EuroVoice 2010 Press Conference in Athens to announce beginning of the Internet voting
05:05 GMT 11 May, 2010 | Posted by EuroVoice Team
At the prestigious Hotel Grande Bretagne, at the center of Athens cameras were flashing this morning!
Reason for this was the Official Press Conference of EuroVoice 2010, where EuroVoice Producer Miltos Karatzas, General Manager of EuroVoice Athens Office Stathis Sofianidis, gave an introduction to the EuroVoice Contest for the Greek journalists and media, accompanied by the famous Greek singer and composer Christos Dantis (who among others is famous internationally for writing the song “My Number One” which won the Eurovision Song Contest in Kyiv, performed by Helena Paparizou!) Also present were several Greek songwriters, lyricists, singers and actors, who were interested in finding more about EuroVoice.
All the major Greek TV channels, daily newspapers and weekly publications were present and heard the news that the brand new, modern, democratic and completely transparent EuroVoice Music Contest Internet Voting Phase is about to start tomorrow, May 12!
Mr. Sofianidis welcomed the Media and Press representatives on behalf of Q Productions, who owns the rights to the Contest, and also on behalf of Eric Serra, President of EuroVoice.
Mr. Karatzas then explained about the concept of EuroVoice, about the way that artists can submit their songs and how fans from all around Europe can participate in the first totally free, totally transparent and totally democratic vote for their favorite song, in the history of Song Contests! He summed up by explaining about the Super Final which will take place in Athens on June 25 and 26.
Christos Dantis then spoke to the Media and Press and said that he was very happy and honored as an artist to be part of a Contest that provides other artists with the opportunity to publicize and promote their works across the borders of Europe, without political or nationalistic games, and just to present them to the preferences of their fans who can listen to their music without obstacles. “The record industry may be in crisis”, Christos Dantis said, “but Music is not and never will be in crisis, as long as artists are free to promote their music around the world. And this new Contest of EuroVoice presents them with such an opportunity.”
Finally, EuroVoice 2010 Deputy Producer, Socrates Soumelas, gave the Media and Press a hands-on tour of the EuroVoice Portal and explained to them in practice, using a laptop and camera projector, how the artists can submit their songs and how the fans will be able to vote on the Internet Phase, that starts on May 12 and ends on May 25.
Finally, the journalists from the Greek Media and Press posed several questions about the Contest but also had a chance, later on, to have a relaxed, private chat with Members of the Athens Office of EuroVoice in an informal atmosphere over drinks and a buffet lunch that left everyone with the best impressions and really waiting for more news about the Next Stage of EuroVoice: The Super Final in Athens!
